WATCH: Michael Strahan Confirms Magic Mike XXL Role

It’s official: “Live with Kelly and Michael” host Michael Strahan will be making an appearance in “Magic Mike XXL,” Strahan revealed Monday morning.

“I’m about to do something that started as a joke here on the show,” Strahan explained, before running a clip from 2012 that featured “Magic Mike” star Channing Tatum inviting the host to appear in the sequel — an offer that prompted Strahan to show off some of his best dance moves.

When Tatum returned to “Live” in 2013, he made sure Strahan was still game for the role, and on Sept. 29, the former NFL star confirmed that Tatum had written him into “Magic Mike XXL.” Watch Strahan’s announcement — and the hair-raising discussion about his potential costume that ensues — below.

“Magic Mike XXL” is set for release on July 1, 2015. New cast members include Amber Heard and Andie MacDowell, while returning stars include Tatum, Alex Pettyfer, Matt Bomer and Joe Manganiello. Gregory Jacobs is directing from a script by Tatum and producing partner Reid Carolin.
